Student Discipline

An exemplary school has high behavior expectations for students and consistency communicates and teaches those behaviors.  Alton High School promotes Respect, Responsibility, Safety, and Kindness for all students and staff members.  AHS Administration and Staff will:

• Teach the identified behaviors through personal example, relationship building, classroom management, communication/partnership with parents/guardians, and progressive discipline

• Support/maintain parental contacts to reward appropriate sustained student behavior, and to change inappropriate student actions

• Use data to make decisions regarding the effectiveness of discipline procedures

• Commit to continued growth in the area of social justice

• Commit to building positive relationships through respect and appreciation for cultural diversity
