Final Exam Policies


Early Finals

In order to take finals early, a parent/guardian must write a letter 2 weeks in advance explaining the circumstances and requesting the date on which the early finals could be taken.

Last Day for seniors is May 21, 2009

Last Day for seniors who must take finals is Friday, May 22, 2009
Seniors who must take finals on May 22,09, must attend school the entire day.


Exempt from Finals Criteria
        Only second semester seniors can be exempt from finals

        Students must meet or exceed in 2 or more areas on the PSAE

        Transfer students without PSAE scores must have an ACT composite score of 23 or better to be exempt

OR

If students do not meet the above, may be exempt if they meet the following criteria for second semester:

        A, B, C or better in the class

        No more than 5 days of excused (E or Z) absences per class (F, C, M are not     counted)

        No unexcused absences during 2nd semester

        No more than 3 hour per class of ISD during 2nd semester

        No more than 6 discipline points – no OSS during 2nd semester

        Hometeaching does not apply toward the 5-day absences

        Absences MUST be correct by Thursday, April 30, 2009
        Students who do not meet this deadline for attendance, will not meet the        criteria and be subject to take finals.  An extension will not be granted.

Students who are not on the published exemption list and feel that they have met the criteria, should talk to their counselor.
